Marsha Anderson Herron

2015 Profile

Spouse:

Spouse - Thomas J. Herron, married Aug. 1, 1970, he passed Dec. 17, 2009.

Family Life:

Gabe (Kristin), 39 until May, two beautiful grand children: Ella turned one Jan. 20 and Henry will be 4 in March.

Lindsay, (38) getting married April 10 in Cabo San Lucas to Austin. Yeah -- another trip to Mexico!! She lives in Denver so I get to make regular trips to there.

Grant, (27 until February), works in the woods in Montana during the summer, then North Dakota in the Fall and the winters are spent cruising timber in Coos Bay. Girlfriend of 3 years named Anne.

Education:

Still learning about how to do this life!! Dating is a whole new education unto itself!!

Career:

Retired from school district in 2012. Still do tickets for athletic events at the local high school and also record the School Board Meetings once a month.

Residences:

Still living in West Linn. Four bedroom house provides too much storage for 'stuff'. Can't beat a paid off house though!! Think about selling, think about trading and living international for a while, think about renting it out and traveling for long periods. Lots of thinking going on and only thinking at this point.

Travel:

2014 I went on a 2300 mile road trip to Montana and Alberta. Grant was working in Glacier Park and was stationed at a remote ranger station -- as in you had to go to Waterton, Alberta, catch a boat and take a one hour boat ride back into the US to get there. It was a fabulous trip with many adventures and lots of hiking.

Hobbies/Interests:

I like to stay busy: hiking, biking, golfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, snowshoeing, (gave up downhill skiing) cross country skiing, swimming, etc. And, living in Oregon, my 'inside' activities include quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. Always up for a road trip too!!

Retirement:

Nearing end of third year. Biggest frustration is finding active people to do things with who aren't still working. I try to keep one thing on my calendar everyday....lunches, volunteering, activities, etc.

EHS Influence:

Truman Youngberg and Mabel Thompson. Both amazing teachers who cared about us in spite of us. I remember coming to school one day and then deciding to skip and go to the lakes (Nancy?? Janeen? Sue??). The next day was the Apple Blossom parade. Mr. Youngberg told me how disappointed he was in my decision and I didn't get to go. Made an impression...not that I never skipped again, just that I looked at the calendar OR didn't come to school first!! Mrs. Thompson just encouraged us to love to learn.
